Leviticus Week 32 - Behar Sinai

Wisdom From the Torah Book 3:
LEVITICUS
With P
ortions From the Prophets and New Testament

This Bible study guide is presented as an extension to our Virtual House Church. It is designed to show you how the themes, stories, and words of the Torah (the five books of Moses) are woven throughout the writings of the prophets and New Testament. There is much wisdom to be gained from the Torah. The word is often translated as “law” but really, it represents the instructions of our loving Father to His children. We pray this study draws you into a closer, more intimate relationship with Him.

The Facebook Notes Rob Read From:
It seems to me that the Church has been infected with a very SERIOUS epidemic, the side effects of which include:

1) Amnesia - forgetting who they are, which causes...
2) Schizophrenia - abnormal social behavior, having problems distinguishing what is real/true and hearing voices that are not there, leading to...
3) Severe confusion and...
4) Delusions of escapism, imagining they will fly away any day now because they have been...
5) Believing in false and contradictory doctrines stemming from...
6) An identity crisis (see # 1), which comes from...
7) Doctrines that teach against the obedience of YHWH's commandments, thus giving license to sin (defined by Scripture as "transgression of the law"), which equates to...
8) Rebellion (defined by Scripture as "witchcraft"), which leads to...
9) The paganization of the true faith, which leads to...
10) Holding to the traditions of men over the word of YHWH

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms, please seek Biblical attention as soon as possible. Time is running out.

Why Study the Torah? Because it is very important to YHVH:

1 Corinthians 10:11

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

11 These things happened to them to serve as an example, and they were written down to instruct us, on whom the ends of the ages have come.

Was the American (or modern) slavery justified by Leviticus 25? No! Biblical slavery looked nothing like the slavery most of us are familiar with - especially when you consider what the Torah says concerning kidnapping (which was how most slaves were acquired around the world by the nations):

Exodus 21:16

New Living Translation (NLT)

16 “Kidnappers must be put to death, whether they are caught in possession of their victims or have already sold them as slaves.

So, if anyone acquired a slave through kidnapping, they would have been put to death according to the Torah. No American slavery was not justified by Torah!

As believers in Yeshua/Jesus, who are we?
Who is the Church?

Romans 11

King James Version (KJV)

11 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying,

Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?

13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:

14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.

15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?

16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.

17 And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.

20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.

24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?

25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:

31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?

35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?

36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Paul said that we were a wild olive tree that has been grafted into the cultivated olive tree - that is Israel!

Romans 8

King James Version (KJV)

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Adopted into what family?

Romans 9:3-5

King James Version (KJV)

For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Israel is the Church:

Acts 7

King James Version (KJV)

38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:

The Church is the "Bride of Christ." The Bride is described as Israel (in the New Jerusalem:

Revelation 21

King James Version (KJV)

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

-----------------

And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

11 Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.

There is only one Bride, one Groom, one God, one plan... and it all revolves around Israel! That is the tree we (as believers in Yeshua/Jesus) are grafted into. It is the family we are adopted into.

Secret Rapture?

I believe the whole idea of a "secret Rapture" - the doctrine of imminence - violates and contradicts:

Amos 3:7

King James Version (KJV)

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

So when is the Rapture? Here is my take on the issue:

Read:

I believe there are many Scriptures that support the idea of people going into a place of safety (this is a hiding not a Rapture) during a time of trial, tribulation, judgement and wrath. Here are some other examples that illustrate this principle:

And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

- Exodus 12:13 (KJV) [emphasis mine]

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

- Psalm 27:5 (KJV) [emphasis mine]

The Lord rescues the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him.

- Psalm 37:39,40 (NLT) [emphasis mine]

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

- Psalm 83:3 (KJV) [emphasis mine]

Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.

- Isaiah 26:20 (NIV) [emphasis mine]

Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD's anger.

- Zephaniah 2:3

How will we survive the Tribulation?

Leviticus 26

New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

If you follow my statutes and keep my commandments and observe them faithfully, I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.Your threshing shall overtake the vintage, and the vintage shall overtake the sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full, and live securely in your land. And I will grant peace in the land, and you shall lie down, and no one shall make you afraid; I will remove dangerous animals from the land, and no sword shall go through your land. You shall give chase to your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword. Five of you shall give chase to a hundred, and a hundred of you shall give chase to ten thousand; your enemies shall fall before you by the sword. I will look with favor upon you and make you fruitful and multiply you; and I will maintain my covenant with you. 10 You shall eat old grain long stored, and you shall have to clear out the old to make way for the new. 11 I will place my dwelling in your midst, and I shall not abhor you. 12 And I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you shall be my people. 13 I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be their slaves no more; I have broken the bars of your yoke and made you walk erect.

The Tribulation Protection Plan:

Exodus 34:21-24

New Living Translation (NLT)

21 “You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but on the seventh day you must stop working, even during the seasons of plowing and harvest.

22 “You must celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the first crop of the wheat harvest, and celebrate the Festival of the Final Harvest at the end of the harvest season. 23 Three times each year every man in Israel must appear before the Sovereign, the Lord, the God of Israel. 24 I will drive out the other nations ahead of you and expand your territory, so no one will covet and conquer your land while you appear before the Lord your God three times each year.
